FRENCH logistics giant Geodis opened a newly built multi-user logistics facility in Aurach, Nuremberg, the company announced.
The facility has 26,757 Euro pallet spaces in the high-bay warehouse and 9,000 square metres of block storage space and is equipped with a photovoltaic system.
With the new logistics centre, Geodis optimizes its market access to one of the economically strongest regions in Bavaria and continues its Europe-wide expansion as a global transport and logistics service provider.
Said Geodis contract logistics Antje Lochmann: "In terms of transport links, our new logistics centre in Aurach is directly connected to the A6 federal motorway, which is part of the important Paris-Prague long-distance connection."
Aurach Mayor Simon Gottfert, welcomed Geodis as a new economic partner investing in the region creating new jobs. He also pointed out the good cooperation of all parties involved in the construction.
Geodis has global network spanning nearly 170 countries and more than 44,000 employees, and is ranked No 7 in its sector across the world and last year generated EUR10.9 billion (US$11.58 billion) in revenue.
